Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today congratulated the personnel of 21 Jat Regiment for carrying out a massive plantation drive at Shrigram Reserve Forest in Dhubri district.
In a congratulatory letter to Col Jitendra Singh Shekhawat,
Mr Gogoi said, ''At a time when there is a need to generate mass awareness on climate change due to global warming, the project 'Go Green' by the personnel of your Regiment under your able stewardship will go a long way in spreading the message loud and clear that the time to act is now to save our only living planet, Mother Earth.'' The Chief Minister hoped the attempt of planting a record 4,47,874 saplings in 24 hours by the 300 personnel of the Jat Regiment on June 12 and 13 would earn for them a place of pride in the Guinness Book of World Records.
The current Guinness World Record for the maximum number of saplings planted in a single day stands at 3,48,492 of Mexico
